It was 25 years ago today, September 18, 2012, that the legendary Disney animated show that really got Disney TV Animation started debuted. We’ve had DuckTales themed posts and events this whole month so far, but for today, we are really stepping it up. However, we need your help.
Just as they had last week for Gummi Bears, the official Disney Movie Rewards Facebook page has once again posted about a classic Disney Afternoon show. This time, in honor of it’s 25th Anniversary, it’s for DuckTales. Just like last time, lets fill that post with comments asking for the final DVD release of this beloved show. And while you are there, be sure to take advantage of their offer to celebrate the special occasion today and redeem your DMR points for a copy of DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, with Litho set. Let them know Open Vault Disney sent you.
The official D23 Facebook page has also posted about the show today. Make sure you also comments on that post about your desire to see the rest of this show on DVD!
Then, after that, please if you have not yet done so, sign are DuckTales petition today. If you have signed it, please share it with others. To date, this petition has been our most successful, but it still has a long way to go before it is ready to present to Disney. We can do better. The more of you that help, the more likely it will be that will succeed, so it’s on each of us to make this happen.
Next, make sure you take a few moments today to talk about DuckTales on your social media profiles or blogs. Let’s create some buzz for this show and the rest of the Disney Afternoon and remind people why these shows matter. It’s been said by some before, the children of the 1950′s grew up on the original Mickey Mouse Club, but the children of the 1990′s grew up on the Disney Afternoon! So there are a lot of new adults, some possibly parents, that are feeling nostalgic for the cartoons they grew up with. Let’s remind them how much fun they had with these shows.
Lastly, please help with our next phone call event. The petitions can be a great way to get the word out to Disney that we the Disney customer base want the rest of these titles, but we still need to rely on good old fashioned e-mails, letters and phone calls. If everyone sends mass e-mails to the powers that be at Disney at once under the OVD banner, it will be noticed. We want to thanks you all for your support. This campaign lives because of it. Thanks guys!
